The 2011 NSW Junior Championship concluded on Wednesday at Charlestown Golf Club with Peter Stojanovski winning his first major four round event in the junior ranks. With an unorthodox swing, an unflappable demeanor and a silky smooth putting stroke, this popular Cabramatta Golf Club junior played the last 54 holes in 6 under par to take the title from Bonnie Doon's Ricky Kato by 3 shots with a four round even par total of 288. It was a disappointing last round 76 for Ricky as he led by three going into the final round with putting proving the difference between the players.

In the 14 - 15 years division Harrison Endycott from the Avondale Golf Club played great golf to take the title with a 17 over par total of 305 over the testing Charlestown layout. In the 13 years and under division local Charlestown star Blake Windred fired 4 great rounds to finish on 307.

The tournament attracts juniors from many parts of NSW and some interstate players who compete for this prestigious title. The nett events were shared with Brady Benkovic (Muswellbrook GC), Ben Stowe (Royal Adelaide GC), Ben Hanscombe (Tathra GC) and Joseph Trinder (Cootamundra GC) all taking home a trophy.

Local golfing legend Jack Newton was on hand to watch the closing holes and congratulate the winners at the presentation. "I have always stressed the importance of the short game for our junior players and Peter showed his class today" commented Jack. "While his technique looks a little unorthodox it certainly stood up under pressure" he added.

The players now move to the Maitland and Kurri Kurri Golf Clubs from the Srixon International Junior Championship held on October 4 - 7. Players from Canada, USA, New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia and Korea together with the best from interstate will make up a very strong field.
