JNJG Well Represented at Quarter Final Stage

(7:00am - Thursday 23rd January 2020)

After eight current JNJG players made it through to the Matchplay section of the 2020 NSW Amatuer, three current juniors, and five recent graduates will take part in this morning's quarter finals.

Jye Halls (NSW GC) impressed on the opening day, comfortably defeating former professional and Japanese Tour Winner Chris Campbell in the round of 32, before narrowly getting the better of Englishman Harvey Byers. It sets up an all junior quarter final, with 16 year old Kiwi Jayden Ford standing in Halls way of a spot in the semi final.

2019 JNJG Junior of the Year Corey Lamb (The Vintage) and 2018 JNJG Junior of the Year Harrison Crowe (St Michael's) will also fly the JNJG flag in the quarter finals.

Ann Jang (Toukley) and June Song (Avondale) also made it through the first day of matches, Jang showing great composure to claim victory at the 19th hole in her match. Former JNJG stars Steph Kyriacou (St Michaels), Grace Kim (Avondale), Kelsey Bennett (St Michaels) and Doey Choi (Concord) will also line up in the quarter finals at St Michaels this morning.

An incredible 50% of the players still left in both the Mens and Womens NSW Amateur have strong ties to JNJG. That dream of an all NSW final in both Men and Women is still alive!

Juniors Star at NSW Amateur

(7:00am - Wednesday 22nd January 2020)

A record EIGHT current JNJG stars have qualified for the Matchplay section of the 2020 NSW Amateur after two gruelling days of qualifying at St Michael's and The Coast Golf Club's in Sydney's east.

Five girls and three boys will contest the first round of matchplay that begins this morning, with Annika Rathbone (The Australian) leading the charge of the juniors after finishing the strokeplay in sixth spot.

Mollymook's Jye Halls (NSW GC) led the way for the boys finishing at one under par in a Tie for 15th, one shot clear of Orlando Janschek (St Michael's GC) and Toronto's Jacob Dundas (Mona Vale GC) who shared 19th.

Following Rathbone in the girls were Angelina Gong (Concord) and June Song (Avondale) in a tie for 9th, Sophie Yip (Concord) and Ann Jang (Toukley) in a tie for 11th, and Claire Shin (Brighton Lakes) finishing in a tie for 15th, setting up a showdown with number one qualifier and former Jack Newton Junior Golf star, Steph Kyriacou.

In total, 22 of the 48 qualifiers for both the Men's and Women's Matchplay Section are either past or present Jack Newton Junior Golf players. We've got our fingers crossed for an all NSW Final on Friday afternoon!
