Ross Low Memorial Junior Open at Armidale
The Ross Low Memorial Junior Open tournament has been conducted by the Armidale Golf Club for over 30 years. The 2016 event drew a smaller than expected field but players came from Uralla, Tenterfield, Moree, Inverell, Longyard, Tamworth, Narrabri, Warialda and the home course at Armidale.
In the Junior Boys 18 hole division, Jock McPherson (Tamworth) showed good early season form to win the Gross score event with a score of 76. Things were a bit more tightly contested in the 18 Hole nett event with Ethan Weir (Longyard) finishing with nett 68 – two shots ahead of Matthew Felton (Inverell).
In the Junior Girls 18 hole division, Annabelle Abrahamsen (Moree) held off Zoe Tomlinson (Narrabri) to win by 1 shot.
Luke Devney (Moree) took out the 9 hole boys division with a comfortable victory over Nathan Weir (Longyard) and Harry Clark (Uralla). Two girls from Uralla contested the 9 hole girls division with Mia Clark holding off Abey Taylor.
