2019 Jamberoo Junior Open

A large crowd was in attendance at Jamberoo on Sunday at the car show. They should have moved next door to the golf club where they would have seen the next generation of Illawarra’s golfing talent on display. And it was a fantastic display as competitors played the second leg of the Touchstone Helicopters Junior Open Series. The Boys Overall Gross winner with a score of even par 67 was Ethan Harvey of Kiama Golf Club. Ethan’s round included birdies on the 4th, 9th, 17th and 18th holes. Ethan had completed the front nine in one under 32 before his storming finish. Ethan only needed a drive and lob wedge on the 18th. Ethan’s was the best round ever recorded in a Jamberoo Junior Open.  Bradley Wills from Concord Golf Club was runner up with a good round of 71 one better than William Blomley from Kiama.  Girls winner Selena Bosevski from The Lakes Golf Club had a close tussle with Sienna Clarke from Mollymook Golf Club. Both played good golf with Selena winning on the last hole 86 to 87. This was Selena’s third title at this event having first won the 9-hole event in 2013 and her first 18 hole title in 2014.  Noah Graham from Camden Golf Club was the overall nett winner with a good 67, Wollongong’s Coopar Nianios was runner up with 70 along with club mate Sam Cascio. Charles Curyer from Vincentia scored a magnificent 43 points to win the stableford event with Kiama’s Noah Cowan second on 32 points.  Both Ethan and Selena were praiseworthy of the course conditions in their acceptance speeches and thanked the sponsors, Touchstone Helicopters, for their continued involvement in junior golf in the Illawarra.  Well played to all athletes who attended today and we hope to see you back again next year.
