The six squad members-James Gaffney (Bourke), Sam Douglas(Coonabarabran), Justin Roberts(Warren), Tomas Job(on the course at time of photo)(Warren), Hayden Clarke(Nyngan) and Hannah Smith(Tottenham) all gained some excellent competition experience competing at Bathurst on 31st March & 1st April with 172 other juniors from across the state. Thomas Job played extremely well on the Saturday, after a 2 hour fog delay start, shooting the best net score of 70 for the 16yrs and over age group. The athletes were joined on the Friday night and Saturday morning by Country Junior Golf Coach Eddie Emerson and PGA member Bob Richards from Sydney who were able to give some pre match tuition at the driving range located at Heritage Park, where the athletes were staying.
Special thanks to Wanita Smith who assisted with transport and supervision and the support of JNJG and Country Junior Golf for making the FWAS Golf trip to Bathurst possible. All juniors conducted themselves in a professional manner and although the grass greens proved to be a ‘little’ tricky for many of the sand green squad they will take the experience away with them and build on their golfing skills and development .
