Far South Coast Eric Apperly

Conducted annually from July to September, the Eric Apperly Shield competition is open to all Sydney Metropolitan Golf Clubs who are members of Golf NSW. This competition is also open to Country Golf Clubs who may qualify for the Finals through competing in their own or a neighboring District Golf Association competition.

The Eric Apperly Shield is for male members of golf clubs who are 21 years of age and under as at the date of the first round of the competition. Eric Apperly Shield is a contest between the two Clubs consisting of six individual matches played over 18-holes of match play without the benefit of handicap.

The Eric Apperly Shield got underway at the Mollymook Golf Club between the Far South Coast District team and the Illawarra District team on a very windy day. The FSCDGA team was to strong for the IDGA in their home match defeating them 5 matches to 1.

The IDGA then hosted the FSCDGA at The Grange Golf Club on 30th July to decide which team was going to go through to the quarter final. The IDGA team put up a strong fight in the return match but the FSCDGA were again to strong for their rivals defeating them 3.5 to 1.5.

The FSCDGA will now play in Sydney on 21st August to compete for a place in the semi final. Good luck to all of the players who will be competing for the FSCDGA team.
