Round 4 - 2013 Srixon International Junior Classic - Maitland GC

Harrison Endycott (NSW) and Shelly Shin (NSW) have claimed victory at the 2013 Srixon International Junior Classic. Both players held comfortable leads heading into the final round and the pressure was on the rest of the field to chase them down if they wanted to claim victory.

Endycott headed into the final round four shots ahead of the field after his course record breaking seven under par 64 in round three.  Blake Proverbs (QLD) had his work cut out for him to chase Endycott down, but started brightly and worked hard throughout his round.  The final two holes added some tension as Proverbs birdied the 17th hole, while Endycott took bogey, however Endycott remained composed and settled for par on the final hole to claim a memorable two shot victory. Harrison fired rounds of 69, 74, 64, 70 (276) to claim his first overall JNJG major title.

Daniel Gale (NSW) finished six shots further back after the second best round of the day, a three under par 68, to shoot up the leader board and claim third place outright. New Zealand's Kadin Neho was fourth with four solid rounds.  The leading four boys in the overall championship also finished in the same positions in the 17 years scratch title.

The boys 16 years title was a nail biter as two shots separated first and fourth. Frazer Droop (VIC - 290) clinched the title with a one shot win over the ever consistent Kevin Yuan (NSW - 291). Doug Klein (QLD -292) and Garrett Senia (QLD – 292) rounded out the minor places.

The boys 15 years title was a tight affair heading into round four with Blake Windred (NSW) tied with Jason Hong (NSW). Local knowledge proved vital as Windred powered away from his competitors with a final round 69 to claim a comfortable six victory over Minwoo Lee (WA).

In the girls championship, Shelly Shin (NSW ) sat atop the leader board in what is becoming a regular position for the young 15 year old. Shin held a four shot lead as the final paring of Shin, Amy Walsh (QLD) and Wenying Keh (NZ) set out ready to battle as the next generation of top junior girls. In the end however it was a one sided affair as Shin shut the door on her competition firing a course record five under par 67 to claim her first JNJG overall championship. In the end Shin (281) finished nine shots clear of Walsh (290) with Keh (295) finishing in third.

Shin broke the course record twice during the week with her first round 68, followed by her final round 67 in what was a memorable week for junior golf.

In the girls 16 years, Wenyung Keh (NZ) went into the final round with a one shot lead over Hannah Green (WA). A final round 74 from Keh (295) saw her settle herself at the conclusion of play four shots clear of Green.

In the girls 17 years, Amy Walsh (QLD) continued her dominance as she waltzed in with the win seven shots clear of her nearest rival (290). Julianne Alvarez (NZ) rounded out a solid week for the NZ team with her second place finish(297).

Round 3 Srixon International Junior Classic - Maitland GC

The anticipation was high as the sun rose over Maitland GC on moving day.  Cold and windy conditions were expected and with the threat of storms, round three was going to be the toughest day so far.

Day one leader, Harrison Endycott (Avondale) found his round one form and set the course alight. In cold and windy conditions, Harrison fired a course record seven under par 64. Harrison moved from tied fourth to hold the outright lead by four shots. Harrisons three round total of 206 put him in the drivers seat heading into the final round. Round two leader Blake Proverbs (QLD) was last to tee off and even in the cold conditions, managed to play solid golf. An even par round of 71 left Blake in outright second position (210) four shots behind Harrison. Kadin Neho (NZ) and Robbie Hogan (Cromer) sit a further four shots back (214).

Shelly Shin (214) continued to hold her nerve and sits atop the leader board after another solid one over par 73. Shelly holds a slender 2 stroke lead over Amy Walsh (QLD, 214) who showed her talent as the only female player to shoot a sub-par round. Amy’s one under par 71 has kept her in contention. Wenyung Keh continues to play solid golf and sits a further five shots behind Amy (221).

In the Teams Championship, NSW (430) has again edged further from Team NZ (440) and with only one round to play, a ten shot lead puts Team NSW in an almost unbeatable position.

With early rain and fog expected, then clearing to a fine day, the final round of the 2013 Srixon International Junior Classic looks set to turn on the weather and the golf.
