Holiday Fun at Cronulla Golf Club

The weather could not have been more perfect for the first Come and Try day held at Cronulla Golf Club on Monday 28th September. Sixty kids had registered to come along to give golf a go at Cronulla Golf Club for some fun on their holidays and everyone turned up!

With the help of many volunteers the club was able to set up five stations, two long hitting stations, two putting stations and one chipping station. Each station had an instructor and these instructors varied from the Head Professional, Col Arnold, to some of the junior committee members who were also PGA members and even the top juniors in the club came along to give a helping hand.

All the kids had a great time and as they rotated around the stations many of the instructors made comment at how they had all improved throughout the morning. The kids had around 20 minutes at each station which was enough time for some quick instructions and then time to give the shot a go!

The morning was ended with some of the juniors that helped out showing the young kids how they hit and even the other helpers got up and showed off their own skills too! No Come and Try Day is complete of course without a sausage sizzle and the kids had certainly worked up an appetite!

The day was a great success and only the start of what Cronulla Golf Club are planning for young kids in the local area. The club are now looking to start some MyGolf clinics in Term 4 and lots of the kids that came to this day said they would love to learn more golf and participate in the clinics.

A big thanks must go out to all the volunteers as the day would not have been a success without them!
