Scaysbrook, Riley Stroll to Peter O'Malley Title

(2:00pm - Sunday 21st March 2021)

Ella Scaysbrook (Newcastle) has cruised to a six shot victory at the 2021 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters. The 15 year old Novacastrian proved far too good for her rivals, turning a four shot overnight lead into a dominant victory at Bathurst Golf Club. Backing up her opening one under par 71, Scaysbrook recorded three birdies and three bogies on Sunday to sign for an even par 72, the low round of the day for the second straight day.

Rachel Lee (North Ryde) finished in second position whilst also claiming the GIrls 12 & 13 Years Division title, whilst birthday girl Jasmine Vesper (Killara) defeated Abbey Bull (The Australian) in a play-off to win the 16 & 17 Years Division. Local girl Maiv Dorman (Bathurst) won the 11 Years & Under Division by two strokes from young-gun Sophie Ang (Bonnie Doon).

Jake Riley (Pymble) has claimed his maiden JNJG Masters title with a dominant five shot victory in the Peter O'Malley Junior Masters. The 16 year old Toronto junior, on a scholarship at Pymble in Sydney, started the day with a share of the lead but quickly took control with three front nine birdies and was never headed.

Riley Millers (Avondale) finished in a tie for second with Rowan Harrison (Murrumbidgee), with the A.C.T junior claiming the Boys 16 Years and Over by a single shot.

Toby Farrar (Lynwood) claimed another JNJG Masters title, proving too good for his rivals in the 12 & 13 Years Division with a five shot victory. Joey Eason (Beverley Park) also impressed, winning the 11 Years and Under Division by six shots.

Sun Shines at Bathurst on Day 1

(6:30pm - Saturday 20th March 2021)

On a day where rain washed out just about everything else in New South Wales, play didn't stop once at Bathurst Golf Club throughout the opening round of the 2021 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters.

Rowan Harrison (Murrumbidgee) and Jake Riley (Pymble) share the lead in the Boys Division, firing matching one under par 70's in the difficult conditions. The pair, both looking for their maiden JNJG Masters title, take a one shot lead into the final round over Riley Millers (Avondale) and Kade Webber (Stonecutters Ridge) who finished the day at level par. The leading boys set to tee off at 1:28pm on Sunday afternoon, with the top 10 players separated by just five shots.

Ella Scaysbrook (Newcastle) was the standout girl in the opening round, also finishing the day at one under par to open up a four shot lead. It's a log-jammed leaderboard behind the leader, with Ann Jang (Toukley) and Rachel Lee (North Ryde) heading the chasing pack at three over par. The next seven players are within two shots of each other, ready to make a charge if the leader slips up.

2021 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters

(9:00am - Wednesday 17th March 2021)

The 2021 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters will take place this weekend at Bathurst Golf Club, marking 12 months since Covid-19 really broke out in Australia plunging the country into chaos.

The 2020 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters was cancelled at the last minute, but almost 250 players have registered for the 2021 event, supporting the club which has been so good to Jack Newton Junior Golf over the years.

The huge field will held up over the Blue Mountains to the Central Tablelands, probably a good thing with the amount of rain predicted to come down onto the Sydney Metropolitan area in the coming days.

Play begins at 7:00am on both Saturday and Sunday morning.
