2020 Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf - CANCELLED

(5:00am - Thursday 2nd January 2020)

Unfortunately, the smoke is still smothering Canberra and the updated weather forecast indicates that it isn’t going to clear for some time now. The forecast for today is that the Air Quality is going to be worse, if that’s even possible, then yesterday.

As a result, for the first time in JNJG history, a tournament has been cancelled due to poor Air Quality and the Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf will not be played this year.

The Air Quality Index here in Canberra has been hazardous since 8pm on New Years Eve. As this article shows, the conditions are so bad, the air quality in Canberra right now is up there with the worst in the world.

All players will be fully refunded, and I have already been in contact with Bluegolf about how to make that happen as quickly as we can.

We are so sorry to everyone, our local JNJG members and those Interstate and Overseas Players who have travelled from so far to take part. As much as we would love for the tournament to go ahead, we have a duty of care to everyone who plays in a JNJG event and sending you out onto the course in these conditions would have been irresponsible and put everyone’s health at risk.

We often say that the only thing that we can’t control when running a golf tournament is the weather, and this week has been some of the worst we have ever seen.

Travel safe, and we hope to see you again soon.

Play Cancelled at Federal on Opening Day of Harvey Norman

(11:00am - Wednesday 1st January 2020)

PLAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED at Federal Golf Club. The opening round of the Harvey Norman Week of Golf is off.

The current Air Quality Index reading is still hovering around the 700 mark, way above "safe" levels. We suggest that all parents and players stay inside with the Air Conditioning OFF, and do not go outside if you can avoid it.

We are still hopeful that play will begin tomorrow morning, but it is all dependent on the smoke clearing.

A new tournament format for the remainder of the week will be sent out this afternoon.

Stay inside and stay safe everyone!

2020 Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf

(11:00am - Tuesday 31st December 2019)

The opening event of the 2020 JNJG Tour Season gets underway on Wednesday, with Federal GC hosting the 2020 Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf.

The hot and dry weather has already impacted JNJG, with the tournament reduced to 54 Holes as a result of the searing temperatures and hot winds expected to hit Canberra and bring bush fire smoke across the Nations Capital throughout the start of the New Year.

A capacity field of 120 players will tee off on New Years Day, with the Top 44 Boys and Top 16 Girls making the 36 hole cut and qualifying for the final round on Friday.
