Incredible Finish as State Age Champions Decided at Penrith

The final round of the 2019 JNJG State Age Championships have concluded at Penrith, with incredible finishes as the State Age Champions are crowned!

12 Years

Max Fischer (Bonnie Doon) wore down rival and friend Jamie Smith (Monash) to win the Boys 12 Years State Age Title. Fischer defeated Smith by just the three shots in the end, with Darcy Mackay (Stonecutters Ridge) in third place. Adam Jackson (Woolooware) performed well all week to finish as the only boy under par in the Nett Division to win the trophy.

Ann Jang (Toukley) put on an absolute clinic to claim the Girls 12 Years Division by 26 shots. Jang finished the tournament at just five over par, playing her final 68 holes in two under. Michelle Yang (Cammeray) had a sensational week to finish second, with Mary Karagiannias (Bankstown) and Nikita Arora (Avondale) impressing in the Nett Division.

11 Years

In the tightest contest of the week, Toby Farrar (Lynwood) birdied the 17th and 18th holes to win the 11 Years and Under State Age Title by a single shot over the gallant Enzo Moon (Strathfield). Farrar, seemingly down and out with just three holes to play, produced when it counted with clutch birdies on the final two holes to steal the title. Leon Li (Roseville) finished in third, also taking out the Nett Division.

Nara Shin (Lynwood) was far too good in the Girls Division, winning the State Age Title by 20 shots from Rebecca Yao (Avondale).

10 Years and Under

Harry Gourlay (Bankstown) has performed a miracle up and down on the final hole to win the Boys 10 Years and Under State Age Title by one shot from Ti Fox (Lynwood). Gourlay, one down with two holes to play, made a clutch 15 foot par putt on the last to win after Fox had already made bogey. Toby Peterson (Bega) was the standout in the Nett Division all week, finishing an incredible 31 under par!

Mirabelle Naaman (Liverpool) and Millie Komulainen (Long Reef) were involved in a tight tussle all week in the Girls 10 Years and Under, with Naaman coming from behind to record a three shot victory.

Dunheved Hosts Moving Day at Under 12s

(2:30pm - Thursday 18th July 2019)


The all important third round was played at Dunheved GC, with players jostling for position at the 2019 JNJG 12 Years & Under State Age Championships.

Luke Boer (Woolooware) produced the shot of the tournament on his way to his best ever round!! The 12 Year old started on the 10th, knocking a 3 wood from 190m straight into the hole for an eagle. He kept it up the rest of the day, improving 21 shots from day two and finished with a Nett 62 (-10) on Thursday.

Ann Jang (Toukley) continued on her merry way on Thursday, once again recording the round of the day in the Girls Division.

12 Years

Ann Jang (Toukley) backed up her fantastic opening two rounds with an even par 74 on Thursday to put two hands firmly on the trophy in the Girls 12 Years Division. Jang was seven over par through four holes on the opening day and quite incredibly, is still only seven over par, now through 54 holes!!

Max Fischer (Bonnie Doon) has ground his way to the lead in the Boys 12 Years Division, opening up a two shot lead over Jamie Smith (Monash). The boys have broken away from the chasing pack, with Adam Jackson (Woolooware) the only boy under his handicap through three rounds and leading the Nett Division by six shots.

The leading 12 Year Olds will tee off at 9:28am (girls) and 9:36am (boys) on Friday morning.

11 Years

The Boys 11 Years Division continues to be close, with the leading three boys firing matching scores of 80 in the third round. Enzo Moon (Strathfield) continues to keep his nose in front, with Toby Farrar (Lynwood) and Leon Li (Roseville) only two shots behind. 

Nara Shin (Lynwood) has extended her lead in the Girls Division to 13 shots after impressing again on Thursday. Shin leads Rebecca Yao (Avondale) in both the Scratch and Nett Divisions.

The leading 11 Year Olds will tee off at 9:12am (girls) and 9:20am (boys) on Friday morning.

10 Years and Under

Millie Komulainen (Long Reef) and Mirabelle Naaman (Liverpool) continue to lead the way in the Girls 10 Years & Under Division, performing the best once again on Thursday. Komulainen will take a one shot lead into the final round which is set to go right down to the wire.

The Boys 10 Years & Under Division is also close, with Ti Fox (Lynwood) opening up a four shot lead late in the round over Harry Gourlay (Bankstown). Toby Peterson (Bega) continues to star in the Nett Division, smashing his handicap for the third straight day.

The leading 10 Year Olds will tee off at 8:56am (girls) and 9:04am (boys) on Friday morning.

Young Stars Continue to Shine at Under 12 State Age

(2:30pm - Wednesday 17th July 2019)


After a successful first day at Penrith, players moved to Dunheved for the second round of the 2019 JNJG Under 12 State Age Championships.

12 Years

Jamie Smith (Monash) has leapfrogged playing partners Max Fischer (Bonnie Doon) and Darcy Mackay (Stonecutters Ridge) in the Boys 12 Years Division. Smith leads by two, with Adam Jackson storming into the lead in the Nett Division after a fantastic 64 (-8).

Ann Jang (Toukley) has extended her lead in the Girls, with another impressive second round. Jang leads by 11 shots after her second straight round in the 70s, with Nikita Arora (Avondale) continuing to lead the way in the Nett Division ahead of Michelle Yang (Cammeray) and Mary Karagiannis (Bankstown) who produced the round of the day on Wednesday.

11 Years

Enzo Moon (Strathfield) has maintained a two shot lead over Leon Li (Roseville) and Toby Farrar (Lynwood) in the tightest division of the tournament. Li also leads the Nett Division after Nett scores of 70 and 69 in the opening two days.

Nara Shin (Lynwood) came into the tournament as the dominant 11 Year Old and the JNJG Development Squad member responded to the challenge with the best round of the day, a three over par 77 on Wednesday. Shin leads Rebecca Yao (Avondale) by 11 shots, with Lara Thomsen (Wollongong) moving up in the Nett Division with a great round on Wednesday.

10 Years and Under

Ti Fox (Lynwood) and Harry Gourlay (Bankstown) have broken away in the 10 Years Division, with Fox extending his lead to three. Toby Peterson (Bega) backed up his first ever round under 100 with another fantastic 97 on day two, continuing his fantastic week of golf in Sydney's West to reach 18 Under Par in the Nett Division.

Millie Komulainen (Long Reef) has extended her lead over playing partner Mirabelle Naaman (Liverpool) to six shots. Komulainen managed to par three of her final five holes to finish strongly on a tough day for the youngsters.

Ann Jang the Star of the Show at Penrith

(2:00pm - Tuesday 16th July 2019)


On a cold and frosty morning in Sydney's West, the 2019 JNJG 12 Years and Under State Age Championships got underway at Penrith GC.

Ann Jang (Toukley) was the star of the show, with the 12 year old recording one of the best back nine scores in JNJG History.

 

12 Years

Darcy Mackay (Stonecutters Ridge) heads a congested leaderboard in the Boys 12 Years Division, with Max Fischer (Bonnie Doon) and Jamie Smith (Monash) lurking just behind.

But it was the Girls who showed up the Boys, with Ann Jang (Toukley) the star of the show on Tuesday at Penrith as she recorded one of the most remarkable rounds of golf in JNJG history. After a slow start, seven over par after just four holes, the 12 year old rallied with one of the best back nines ever seen. Jang birdied the 10th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th to play the back nine in SIX under par to open up a six shot lead. Nikki Arora (Avondale) was also impressive, finishing the day with a Nett 68 (-7).

11 Years

On a cold morning, Enzo Moon (Strathfield) was hot early, starting his round with back to back birdies!! In the end, Moon finished the opening day with an impressive 77 (+5) to take a two shot lead in the Boys 11 Years Division. Jericho Cirera (Castle Hill) was the only boy under 70 in the Nett Division, finishing with a Nett 68 (-4).

Nara Shin (Lynwood) and Rebecca Yao (Avondale) look set to battle it out in the Girls 11 Years Division, firing matching 84s (+9) to share the lead. Ebony Park leads the Nett Division, the only girl under par with her 71 (-4).

10 Years and Under

Ti Fox (Lynwood) handled the course the best on Tuesday, finishing with an 81 (+9) to take a two shot lead. Toby Peterson (Bega) was a standout in the Nett Division, breaking 100 for the first time ever on the way to a Nett 64 (-8).

Millie Komulainen (Long Reef) was the best in the 10 Years & Under Division, leading Mirabelle Naaman (Liverpool) by four shots after the opening round. Millie also leads the Nett Division, finishing the first day with a Nett 72 (-3).

Players move to Dunheved GC for the second and third rounds, before returning to Penrith on Friday for the final round.

2019 JNJG 12 Years & Under State Age Championships

(2:00pm - Monday 15th July 2019) 


For the second straight year, Penrith GC & Dunheved GC will host the JNJG 12 Years & Under State Age Championships.

More than 75 of the best golfers aged 12 Years & Under from all over NSW and the A.C.T will converge on Western Sydney to take part in the 2019 event.

54 Boys and 23 Girls will tee it up on Tuesday morning at Penrith Golf Club, looking to be crowned JNJG State Age Champion. Round 2 and 3 move across to Dunheved GC before players return to Penrith GC on Friday for the final round and presentations.

Play begins at 8:00am on Tuesday morning with the draw for the first two days available below!!
