2015 Hunter PSSA Golf Trials

In a great initiative to grow golf in the Newcastle and Hunter region, Primary School Convener Drew Janetzki has once again extended the regional golf trails to all school students who have participated in Jack Newton Junior Golf school programs.

“Our vision is to allow school students to experience golf under event conditions, witness first hand the pathway they can take within our school programs and it’s hoped that these students will continue to grow in golf and be the next ones to trial for the PSSA Hunter Golf Team,” Drew said.

The introduction of these events is now part of the annual Hunter Golf trials.  We offer students four events to choose from;

  • 18 Hole Scratch & Handicap tournament, suitable for regular golfers with handicaps
  • 9 Hole tournament, suitable for students who do not have a handicap but play well enough to complete a modified 9 hole course
  • 5 Hole tournament, suitable for any student who has participated in school golf programs. This event is played in teams and offers an ambrose format of modified holes using the MyGolf equipment
  • Putt-Putt Knockout tournament, open to all attending players

The putt-putt competition even made it to last years state finals in Port Macquarie and was a huge success.

Students only need to have some golf experience which most have had during their schools golf programs, these students can come and enjoy a great day and hopefully be inspired by their fellow students to play more and represent their region at state level.

This year’s event will be held at Stonebridge Golf Club on June 15th.
