International Children’s Games - Lake Macquarie

The International Children’s Games are coming down under in December 2014.  It will be the first time in the Southern Hemisphere since the Games inception in Celji, Slovenia 1968.  Over 80 cities have now nominated for the games, which will bring 1500, plus athletes to compete over 5 days in 8 different sports, namely; athletics, gymnastics, sailing, football, swimming, water polo, BMX, and golf.

The golf is to be played at Waratah Golf Club at Cockle Creek, the format for competition will be a 36 hole scratch and nett event on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th December with a two person teams event in conjunction.

A practice round is set down for Sunday 7th.  Competitors for all sports must be 12 years to 15 years old. 

Gold, Silver, Bronze medals will be presented at each venue and a certificate for all athletes, signed by Jacques Rouge from IOC will also be presented.  These games are fully sanctioned by the IOC and are an important arm of the World Body. 

All athletes participating will remain in the games village at the Newcastle University for the duration of the games. 

Lake Macquarie City have selected the golf team of 2 boys and 2 girls and they are:

            Jesse Fittler            Waratah Golf Club

            Golf Team Coach   Damian Fittler

We are expecting about 60 golfers combined for the event.  It goes without saying how happy we are about the games coming to our city and will do everything we can to showcase Waratah Golf Club to the world.
