Girls Enjoy Hunter Golf Camp

Hunter River Ladies Junior Promotions Officer Natalie Wood has coordinated a junior girls camp that will evolve over time to provide junior girls with the opportunity to learn new skills and encourage new friendships through golf.

Recently six junior girls from various local district golf clubs attended the single day camp hosted by Cypress Lakes Resort with PGA professional and Jack Newton Junior Golf Territory Manager Mark Ingrey providing the coaching for the day.

The girls were taken through fundamental movement skills, physical conditioning, fitness, skills education and learning before heading on course for a session of course skills.

“The program is aimed at new junior girls who are either starting out or have commenced playing regular golf at their club.  We hope that the participating girls will form friendships through learning and encourage each other to play more golf, this was evident on the day with constant laughing and friendly banter,” Natalie said.

“I hope with the help of local clubs and Jack Newton Junior Golf we can expand the program to 2 days in the future and as a result see more girls not only playing golf but developing key friendships along the way,” Natalie said.

“The girls who attended the single day program were really looking to find something that helped them to progress quickly, each girl had certain skill sets that will allow them to grow.  This opportunity to learn was a great step for them.  I think we will see more girls attend next year and with Natalie driving this it will be a success,” said Mark Ingrey.
