2014-2015 Golf Program Nominations

The purpose of the Hunter Academy of Sport golf program is to develop promising young golfers and assist their progress in game development. 

The Hunter Academy of Sport plays a vital role in the Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) pathway by identifying, monitoring and developing the skills of young male and female golfers.

The Hunter Academy of Sport golf program is one of 11 Regional Academies of Sport golf programs in NSW that provides first class training opportunities for emerging golfers.

The Academies' holistic approach will certainly improve the existing skills and knowledge of all squad members.

The golf squad is open to males and females turning 10-17 years of age in the year that they trial for the program.

Golfers eligible for selection must be a member of a golf club and attend school and live in the Newcastle/Hunter Region.

Selection trials are held annually in August and are based on skills test and players recent tournament performances. Selection dates will be advised early August each year.

The golf training provides juniors with full day camps held over a number of weekends between September and April each season. The program provides but is not limited to the following:

Life coaching
Mental approach
Course management
Skills tests
Statistical analysis
Use of apps
Tournament preparation and play
