Cascio and Eppelstun Claim Victory in Goulburn
(2:00pm - Sunday 19th November, 2023)
Sam Cascio (The Australian) has come from behind to win the Brett Ogle Junior Masters in a nail-biting finish, while Sophie Eppelstun (Catalina) held on to win her first JNJG Junior Masters title.
Cascio began the final round three shots behind overnight leader Harry Whitelock (Royal Canberra). The pair both made moves early Sunday morning, sharing the lead at 7 under at one stage. They had close company throughout their round with Charlie Peng (Avondale) and Liam Jordan (Manly) both going low and shooting their best rounds recording 5 under. Cascio held his nerve on the final hole finishing with a par and a one shot victory, adding to his growing list of Junior Masters titles.
Catalina junior, Sophie Eppelstun claimed her first Junior Masters title to kick off the 2024 season. After sharing the overnight lead with Aaniyah Bhola (Concord), Eppelstun put together a stellar front nine which included five birdies. Eppelstun went one better than her last start as she bowed out in the play off at her home Junior Masters. A deserving winner, who fell just short on numerous occasions last season has gone all the way in Goulburn.

Whitelock Lights up While Bhola and Eppelstun Share Lead
(6:00pm - Saturday 18th November, 2023)
Harry Whitelock (Royal Canberra) has put on a clinic in Goulburn recording a 65 (-6) and a three shot lead. Sophie Eppelstun (Catalina) and Aaniyah Bhola (Concord) finish in a tie at the top with 71 (-1).
It's a stacked leaderboard in the boys overall division. In perfect scoring conditions for Round 1, nine boys fished under par. Whitelock was at his best, recording a handful of birdies and an eagle to take the lead by three shots. Charlie Peng (Avondale), Liam Jordan (Manly), Sam Cascio (The Australian) and Andrew Kneeves all finished three under par and will be chasing down Whitelock going into Sunday.
Six girls are within three shots of overall leaders Eppelstun and Bhola. The only two girls to finish under par after Round 1 will have close company as they head into the final round. The Concord and Catalina Juniors both finished their final nine holes bogey free and will look to continue their early form hoping to breakaway from the rest of the field.
Play begins at 7:30am with a shotgun start
