Clarke, Mudadana Claim Maiden Masters Title
(5:00pm - Sunday 11th December 2022)
Sienna Clarke (St Michael's) and Kayun Mudadana (NSW) have claimed their maiden JNJG Masters Titles with breathtaking one shot victories at Wentworth Falls Country Club.
After starting the final round eight shots back, Clarke flew out of the blocks with three birdies in her opening six holes to cut the deficit in half. Overnight leader Hollie Fuller (Grafton) wasn't going to let the lead go easily, making two birdies herself on the front nine as the girls cleared out from the rest of the field. The 16 Year-Old from the South Coast applied the pressure with a birdie-eagle stretch early on the back nine and when Fuller dropped three shots in a row on 15-16-17, the comeback was complete.
After starting out 2022 in great form with victory at the 2022 Sydney Week of Golf, the Illawarra Academy of Sport Athlete finishes the year in style also, punching her ticket to the 2023 Bonville Champions Trophy in the process.
The Boys Division was also a tight contest throughout the final, with 15 year Old Vidur Subramaniam (Ryde Parramatta) posting the clubhouse lead after rounds of 70-71. Subramaniam, winner of the recent Brett Ogle Junior Masters watched for almost an hour as the older boys division finished, with Kayun Mudadana (NSW) and Shashank Koirala (The Lakes) the only ones with a chance of running him down.
In the end, two back-nine birdies from Mudadana secured his first JNJG Masters Title, as a par on the last was enough for a one shot victory. Koirala birdied the final hole to tie Subramaniam in second, with a four shot buffer back to Ian Kim (St Michael's) in fourth. The victory also secured a trip to Bonville for Mudadana, qualifying for the prestigious Champions Trophy for the first time.
Sherry Zou (Bonnie Doon) provided the shot of the tournament, a HOLE-IN-ONE on the difficult par three 9th hole helped her to victory in the Girls 12-13 Years Division!

Hollie Fuller (Grafton) takes an eight shot lead into the final round with a sensenational first round 69 (-5). Fuller fired early with three birdies in a row and was five under through eight holes. On the hunt for a pefect start, Fullers charge was haulted as she had a bogey to close out the front nine. The birdies continued to flow, and she cashed in with back to back birdies on two par 5's. A career low round for Fuller was capped off with her 8th birdie on the final hole.
Five boys are within two shots of the lead going into the final round on Sunday. Nihal Gaundar (Cabramatta) finished his round strong with back to back birdies on the final two holes which helped secure an overnight lead.
