Big Wins at Penrith Golf Club

(6:30pm - Tuesday 7th December 2021)

There were some dominant wins in multiple age groups as the JNJG 12 Years and Under State Age Championship wrapped up at Penrith Golf Club.

Jonathan Hong (Macquarie Links GC) was successful in chasing down our overnight leader Charlie Peng (Avondale GC) to claim the Boys 12 Years Division by a stroke. It came down to the final hole with Jonathan paring the last to claim the title. Mimi Thomsen (Wollongong GC) has followed in her sisters footsteps to win the Girls 12 Years Division by nine shots with rounds of 82 and 89.  Her older sister Lara Thomsen was victorious in the same division at last years JNJG 12 Years & Under State Championships.

Blake Cranston (Toukley GC) had his best score to date in round two with a 74, two over par to secure the win in the Boys 11 Years Division. Camilla Kim (Lynwood GC) made sure that the title was hers with a very dominant showing racing away with a 22 shot lead to win the Girls 11 Years Division.

Jesse Linden (Newcastle GC) edged out fellow 10-Year-old Charlie Kerr (Wollongong GC) by one shot in what was a very tight contest between the two who both shot 84 today. Sophia Chao (Gold Creek GC) regained her overnight lead from Sophie Tong (Killara GC) towards the end of round two to win the Girls 10 Years Division by two shots. A special mention goes too Danielle Hui (Pennant Hills GC) who played outstanding and finished 24 shots better than her handicap.

Junior Golf in Good Hands with Round 1 Complete at the JNJG 12 Years and Under State Age Championship

(6:30pm - Monday 6th December 2021)

On a perfect day for golf and despite the older juniors playing in the NSW Junior Championship at Lynwood CC, some of the most exciting golf came from the young guns in the JNJG Under 12 State Age Championships at Penrith GC.

Charlie Peng (Avondale GC) leads the Boys 12 Years Division at three over par (+3), with Harry Deitz (Northbridge GC) and Jonathan Hong (Macquarie Links GC) one shot behind at four over par (+4). Rory Page (Mosman GC) was the stand out in the Nett Division with a nett 69 (-3). This year it is another Thomsen leading the Girls 12 Years Division after Day 1 with Mimi Thomsen (Wollongong GC) building a commanding eight shot lead with a round of seven over par (+7).

In the tightest division, Harrison Preece (The Vintage GC) leads the Boys 11 Years at six over par (+6) with Riley Lam (Pennant Hills GC), Blake Cranston (Toukley GC) and Nathan Hong (Macquarie Links GC) hot on his heels just two shots back at eight over par (+8). Once again Camilla Kim (Lynwood CC) is leading the Girls 11 Years Division with a seven over par round (+7) which included two birdies.

It looks to be a two horse race in the Boys 10 Years and Under Division with Jesse Linden (Newcastle GC) and Charlie Kerr (Wollongong GC) separated by just one shot at 10 and 11 over par respectively. Josh Park (Ryde-Parramatta GC) is leading the way in the Nett division with a nett 66 (-6). Sophia Chau (Golf Creek GC) was very solid on day one, creating a five shot lead heading into day two.

Tournament Preview - Penrith to Host Under 12 State Age

(1:30pm - Wednesday 1st December 2021)

For the second straight year, the JNJG 12 Years & Under State Age Championships will take place in the month of December, after Covid-19 lockdowns forced the event to be postponed earlier in the year. Penrith Golf Club in Sydney's West will play host to the tournament, with almost 80 of the best golfers from around the state taking part. Super popular golf brand PING will also join the JNJG family, sponsoring the Championships for the first time.
