Golf in Schools
Jack Newton Junior Golf has developed an effective means of introducing children to the game of golf at the school level by successfully training the teachers and ensuring they have the equipment and resources to implement golf as a regular part of the curriculum. Below is a model of the NSW School System and the resources used by JNJG at each level to teach the game of golf.
NSW School System and Golf
There are three types of schools in NSW: Public, Catholic, Independent
For students participating in the game there is a development pathway through the school system. This pathway gives the student a solid foundation starting with a program in school, followed by a rewarding progression to Regional, State and National Championships.
This year as an added incentive JNJG are giving 12 students the opportunity to represent JNJG as part of a tournament team that will travel to New Zealand in January 2014 to play both team events and individual tournaments. The twelve players will be made up of the Boys and Girls Overall Scratch and Nett winners in each of the NSW Championships (Under 12: PSSA, Under 15: Newton Shield, Under 19: CHS).
