The Talent Identification Camp commenced in 2017 due to JNJG’s recognition of increased player numbers competing in the Sub-Junior section of its tournaments. This has now progressed into a number of Talent ID Days across the state. The goal of these days is to provide additional development opportunities and support to the players and the parents that are engaged in these JNJG tournaments. The days are open to both boys and girls.
JNJG Regional Talent Identification Program
The JNJG Regional Talent Identification Program has been developed in recognition of the increased player numbers competing at JNJG events in the “Sub-Junior” (14 Years and Under) divisions.
The JNJG Regional Talent Identification Program consists of standalone, single day camps, held in both metropolitan and regional NSW. Starting with 3 camps in 2019 (held in the Illawarra, Hunter and Sydney), JNJG will now expand and host camps in all the Regional Acadmey areas, as well as 2 in Metropolitan Sydney.
The objectives of the days are as follows;
- educate and inform players and their parents on the development pathway at state and national levels
- educate and inform parents and players on the principles of long-term athlete development
- provide an opportunity for the camp participants to showcase their golfing talents to JNJG Development Staff
- provide an opportunity for JNJG to collect information on general athletic ability, golf skills, attitude and behaviours of camp participants
- provide a fun and challenging curriculum that allows the participants to learn about themselves and develop new skills
- to identify recipients of Srixon Sports equipment scholarships
- to identify participants that would benefit from additional JNJG development and competition opportunities in the future
