Community Golf Coaches Course
This course is designed for beginner coaches. The target group includes school teachers, golf club personnel interested in developing junior and other beginner golfers, parents, late secondary and tertiary students. Candidates should be at least 16 years of age.
After completing the Community Golf Coaches Course, coaches will be able to:
- Introduce players to basic technical and playing aspects of the game.
- Describe the value of the game of golf.
- Plan an instructional sequence suiting local conditions.
- Conduct coaching sessions.
- Utilise support materials and resources.
- Understand the role of the Community Coach and the rules of amateur status relating to amateur coaches.
The course has three sections which are the general sport principles, the golf specific principles and assessment tasks. All three sections must be completed before Coaching accreditation will be issued.

General Principles
The general principles section of this course is a self-paced online program provided by the Australian Sports Commission. It is a prerequisite that you complete the general principles section of this course before attending the golf specific section of the course.

Golf Specific Principles
This is a one day course (approx. 8 hours) whereby golf specific information will be provided in both theoretical and practical wokshops. Such topics included will be long and short game technical development, rules, coordinating a program and the role of the Community Golf Coach.
Assessment Tasks
This will require the community coach to complete two specific assessment tasks.
