Stellar Season for Celina

2016 was certainly a busy year for our junior golfers and none more so than our Junior Girl of the Year, Celina Yuan!

The Australian Golf Club member and State representative capped off an incredible year last week when she successfully secured her Ladies European Tour Card when she finished tied third in the final stage of Tour School.

The 17 year old has been a long-standing member of JNJG and has claimed numerous titles over her junior golf career. Jack and the staff have watched her from her early years in the foundation into the extremely talented and focused young lady she is now.

This year Celina out did herself and recorded some amazing achievements. Her success in JNJG for 2016 includes: JNJG State of Origin Representative, Macarthur Junior Masters Champion, Tied fourth at the NSW Junior Championships, Runner up at the Srixon International Junior Classic and she was the winner of the 2016 Junior Jean Derrin.

She also shone on the national and international stage with the following achievements:

Semi Finalist in the Australian Women’s Amateur Championship
4th Australian Girl’s Amateur Championship
Member of the NSW Girls Interstate Team that won the National Championship
Member of the NSW Women’s Interstate Team
Winner of the South Pacific Ladies Classic
Winner of the Queensland Amateur Championship
1st Australian Girls Amateur Rankings
2nd Australian Women’s Amateur Rankings

Last week in Morroco she capped off her year by finishing tied for third at the Ladies European Tour’s Final Stage Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2017 after rounds of 70, 66, 67, 72 and 71.

She spoke to the LET media after gaining her 2017 card, “I wasn’t expecting to get anywhere near the top 10. I wasn’t happy with how I played on the last day, but a top 10 is good enough for me. I hope to make all the cuts in 2017 and play well enough to be happy!”

The top 30 players gained their 2017 Tour Card while players from 31-66 were entitled to partial cards meaning they have limited playing opportunities on the tour.

JNJG are so proud of what Celina has achieved in her time in the foundation and we wish her all the very best on the next step in her journey.  She is a talented young lady with the potential to achieve great results.  We know she will be extremely dedicated and work hard towards making the most of this next opportunity.

Well done Celina and we will all be eagerly cheering you on from NSW.
