It is with great sadness that I inform you all of the sudden passing of David Hirsch last Thursday the 2nd of June. David passed away on his 56th birthday at approximately 8pm.
David has been the driving force of junior golf in the Sutherland Shire area for quite some time. He was the co-ordinator at the Woolooware Golf Club, JNJG rules official, convenor of the Encourage Shield and all round supporter of junior golf.
David's passion for junior golf was second to none. David volunteered countless hours to the juniors at the Woolooware and Cronulla Golf Clubs. David managed the junior clinics and competitions at the Woolooware Golf Club, often donating the prizes for the junior players. However, David's commitment went well past this. David would often drive Cronulla and Woolooware juniors to Jack Newton Junior Golf tournaments throughout Sydney and NSW.
David's passion for junior golf stretched much further than just the Sutherland Shire region. David was extremely passionate about junior golf in general. David assisted in the administration of the Encourage Shield over the past few years and was instrumental in developing the close link between the Encourage Shield and Jack Newton Junior Golf.
We at Jack Newton Junior Golf looked forward to our multiple weekly phone calls from David to discuss an upcoming tournament or suggestions about how we can assist the juniors further.
David will be missed by all Jack Newton Junior Golf staff and members. David will be farwelled on Wednesday at the Olsen Chapel, Sutherland.
