Final Update

Lydio Ko of New Zealand has become the youngest girl to ever win the Australia Women's Stroke Play Championship at the tender age of 13. Lydio defeated fellow New Zealand teenager Cyclia Cho is a play off after both girls finished at 6 under par.

The top placed JNJG junior was Cathleen Santoso, who came tied 5th at 5 over par. Also qualifying for the match play was Carly Beck who finished in tied 16th. A very good effort from 12 year old Celina Yuan who finished tied 50th. 

Round 3 Update

Jack Newton Junior Golfer Cathleen Santoso has propelled herself into equal 4th place after shooting a 2 under par 71 in the third round of the Srixon Australian Women's Stroke Play Championships. Sitting just a further two shots back is Carly Beck who sits at 6 over par for the championship.

The top 32 girls qualify for the match play that commences on Monday. Cathleen and Carly are almost certain to make the match play with Celina Yuan (38th) and Claudia Lim (45th) looking to improve on their scores and move into the top 32.

Round 2 Update

Carly Beck is the best places JNJG junior after two rounds of the Srixon Australian Women's Stroke Play Championship. Carly shot a 2 over 75 to be 3 over par for the Championship in equal 7th place. The next best JNJG Junior is Cathleen Santoso who currently sits in equal 14th at 5 over par. Celina Yuan of the Bankstown GC is one to watch. Still at only 12 years of age she is sitting at tied 38th place and well in contention to qualify for the match play.

The round of the day came from 15 year old Min Jee Lee of WA who shot a 6 under par 67 to move within one shot of overnight leader Lydia Ko. Min Jee wil join a group of JNJG Juniors and travel to the Callaway World Juniors in July this year. If she keeps up this form she is a great chance to bring the title back to Australia.

Round 1 Update

Carly Beck and Cathleen Santoso are the best placed JNJG Juniors after round 1 of the Srixon Australian Women's Stroke Play Championships. Both girls shot 1 over par 74's in the first round. All Australians are chasing the dynamic New Zealand duo of Cecilia Cho and Lydia Ko. Both girls shot excellent 3 under par 70's and then commented that there is definate room for improvement. This is a scary comment for the chasing pack.

Srixon Australian Women's Stroke Play

The Srixon Australian Women's Stroke Play tees off today (Wednesday) at the Huntingdale Golf Club. Jack Newton Junior Golf is very well represented with 6 juniors competing in the event.

The six juniors participating are:

Cathleen Santoso (The Lakes) - 74, 77 (+5)

Claudia Lim (The Australian) - 78, 81 (+13)

Aliza Huff (Belmont) - 87,79 (+20)

Carly Beck (The Australian) - 74, 75 (+3)

Jessica Kelly (The Vintage) - 82, 82 (+18)

Celina Yuan (Bankstown) - 81, 78 (+13)

Both Carly and Claudia have just returned from a very successful trip of South Africa which culminated in Claudia winning the South Africa Junior Masters girls' stroke play and Claudia and Carly teaming up to win the girls teams event.
