Final Update

Cameron Smith of QLD has won a playoff to claim the Australian Men's stroke play championship. This is an amazing effort for Cameron who is still only 17 years of age. Unfortunately no JNJG current members qualified in the top 32 for the amtchplay section with Jarrod Freeman missing out in a playoff. Ex JNJG members, Mitch Davis, Matt Stieger and Michael Williams to name a few will compete over the next couple of days in the match play championships.

Round 1 Update

A fantastic 6 under par 66 has shot QLD junior Cameron Smith to the lead in the Srixon Australian Mens Stroke Play Championship. Cameron who is a national squad member fired 8 birdies and one double bogey to card his 6 under round. In second place is ex JNJG Junior John Yim who shot an excellent 4 under par. Hot on his heels is ex JNJG and  Srixon International champion Michael Williams. Michael shot a 3 under par 69 to regain some of his lost form of late.

Of the current JNJG Juniors Andrius Belkus is the best placed at 1 over par with Jarrod Freeman a further shot back at 2 over par. After round two the field is cut to the top 75 players plus ties.

Srixon Mens Stroke Play Championships

The Srixon Australian Men's Stoke Play Championship tees off today (Thursday) at the Victoria and Woodlands GC. A host of current and ex JNJG Juniors are participating in the championships this year. All the players will be looking to get past the first hurdle and make the 36 hole cut. The top 75 players plus ties qualify for the final 36 holes.
