2015 Golf Squad

The South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) has announced their scholarship holders for its Golf Program in 2015.

The Golf Program commenced in 2007 and is a 6 month program run in partnership with Jack Newton Junior Golf. The program is designed to enhance the athletic ability of each athlete and improve their skill technique in their chosen sport. To achieve this the academy provides training camps and delivers physiological testing specific to the sport of golf. The academy also provides education and strength and conditioning programs that are monitored by SERAS. The delivery of skill development is provided by our PGA Professional coach Chris Hearn, from the Bermagui Country Club, who works with the athletes during the training camps.

The 2015 program will commence with a training camp to be held at the University of Canberra and the Gold Creek Country Club on the weekend of 29-30 November. SERAS executive director, Garry Lane said: ‘This golf squad for 2015 is one of the most talented group of golfers we have been able to assemble over the eight years we have been running the program. The 12 athletes are aged from 13 to 17 years and they have very low handicaps compared to previous intakes. I would expect that some of these talented young golfers will develop into potential elite players in the years to come.’

Squad members in the SERAS Golf Program for 2015 include: Lachlan Bill (Goulburn); Luka Brucic (McKellar); Blake Christofersen (Jerrabomberra); Casey Cook (Tura Beach); James Dickinson (Batemans Bay); Jarred Hunt (Goulburn); Lachlan Ingram (Moruya); Jason Koesmarno (Ngunnawal); Stuart Phair (Kambah); Amber Thornton (Isaacs); Chloe Thornton (Isaacs); and Adam Thorp (Holt).
