School Golf Day at Scone

Whether they were teeing off, putting or chipping, the students were smiling at Scone Golf Club last month.

Fifty-two primary and secondary students attended a Junior Golf Day provided by Scone Golf Club as part of Play Golf Week.

The day was supported by Jack Newton Junior Golf; with Territory Manager and PGA member Mark Ingrey sharing his skills, knowledge through coaching, demonstration and trick shots.

The students from Scone HS, St Josephs Aberdeen, Scone PS, Ellerston PS and Blandford PS tested their newfound skills over 3 and 5 hole events followed by some skills improvements on the driving range and putting indoors.

Scone Golf Club junior coordinator Gordon Halliday was joined by trained coach Sue Watts and other lady members to organize and facilitate the day.  Halliday said all the children seemed to enjoy the gala day and they enjoyed having them as it is really rewarding to see the children out on the course having fun and using their skills they learnt throughout the year.

“We had really good cooperation from the schools, which made the whole day possible” he said.
