Clyde Auto Catalina Junior Open

On Sunday, August 3, 18 cadets and 55 juniors representing 28 golf clubs from around NSW and the ACT teed off in the 2014 Clyde Auto Catalina Junior Open. The day got off to a very cold and frosty start with a temperature of -2 on course at 6:30am. Despite the cold weather the day was a typical fantastic south coast day and the course was in beautiful condition yet again.

The cadets enjoyed a 9-hole competition and returned some great scores.

The girl’s nett winner was Lilly Ralston from Catalina with 38 ½, the girls cadet scratch winner was Emily Dickinson also from Catalina with 44. The boy’s nett winner was Jayden Granger from Mollymook with 36 ½, the boys cadet scratch winner was Matthew Canellis from Catalina with 40. The girl’s nearest to the pin winner was Emily Dickinson. The boy nearest to the pin winner was Joel Brown.

The open event was hotly contested with a lot of great players in each division making for some close finishes.

The girl’s nett winner was Casey Cook from Tura Beach with 75. The girls scratch runner up was Amber Thornton from NSW with 81, the girls scratch winner and open champion was Chloe Thornton from NSW with 79. The girls nearest to the pin winner was Maddy Hunter on the 14th hole.

The boys open division went down to the wire with Tom Punnett and Josh Armstrong going toe to toe all the way down the stretch, Josh chipped in on the 17th to even it up but Tom was the eventual winner after making a solid par on the tricky 18th.
