Golf Included in Sports Day
The Sun was out, the smiles were bright and the sports were hot. The NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge was conducted at Moruya High School on the 11th September and was a huge success. The entire student body thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The day gave some younger students a chance to try a variety of sports. The sports they participated in were golf, AFL, NRL, hockey, softball and soccer.
The PSC days are designed to train students in Year 10 to conduct a sports day for students in years 5,6,7,8,9 and to give the younger students a chance to try some new sports, get active and learn about the procedures required to conduct a sports day in the future.
Schools all across NSW have been exposed to the leadership program, with over 42 schools across the state taking part.
The aim of the Premier's Sporting Challenge Sports Leadership (PSC SL) program is to provide an education pathway for student sport leaders from Year 5 to Year 12. Student leaders gain beginner level coaching certificates and actually give back to the program by becoming assistant sport coaches at their schools.
The schools that took part in the Leadership day at the Moruya High School were, Moruya High School, Broulee Public School, Bodalla Public School, and Mogo Public School.
