The 2011 NSW All Schools Championships was held at Blackheath Golf Club on Tuesday 3rdand Wednesday 4thMay. Players from the 10 NSW state school regions and from the NSW Independent and Catholic schools battled for the right to be named NSW All Schools Champion. The 36 hole event attracted 118 players with some great scoring.
Ruben Sondjaja from the Bonnie Doon Golf Club and representing Marcellin College and Combined Catholic Colleges fired two rounds of 67 for a total of 4 under par 137. He was crowned All Schools Champion as well as GolfNSW Schoolboy champion. Andrew Best in a playoff against Ricky Kato won the Combined High Schools Championship.
Shelly Shin, a year seven student at Carlingford High School and representing the Sydney North Region swept all before her with rounds of 70 and 73 for a three over total 143. She was crowned the All Schools, The Combined High Schools and the GolfNSW Schoolgirl Champion.
Regional teams will now travel to Dubbo Golf Club for the State Teams Carnival where the NSW State Team will be selected to contest the School Sport Australian Championships in Adelaide later in the year.
The event will remain at the Mountain courses of Blackheath and Wentworth Falls and in 2012 will include the new Newton Shield for Years 7, 8 and 9 players.
