2016-2017 Season

The NCAS Development Squad concept was first envisaged in 2013 and was originally designed as a tactical step on the pathway for emerging young golfers who were demonstrating a passion for the game.  Through the financial and administrative support of the NCAS, NRDGA, JNJG and WGNR we were able to initiate the program to identify young golfers who may be potential representative golfers at a later stage.

In general, the program is aimed at players no older than 14 years and with full GA handicaps between 10 and 30.  The program is open to any boy or girl registered with an NRDGA or WGNR affiliated club.

In late 2016 we were able to select a full squad of 12 players (10 boys and 2 girls) for the sessions spanning December 2016 to April 2017.  Ultimately, this squad has turned out to be the best credentialed group in the four years since we started the Development Squad program.  Individual members of the squad were:

Aaron Curtis (Coolangatta-Tweed Heads), Charlie Dean (Ocean Shores), Kayne Endean (Maclean), Braydon Howlett (Kyogle), Elly Petersen (CTH), Jack Primi (CTH), Jack Ross (CTH), Will Ross (CTH), Brandan Rowe (CTH), William Thorogood (CTH), Lily Ulrick (Ocean Shores), Kane Whitelock (Byron Bay)

We were very fortunate to attain the services of Chris Graham (PGA, Ocean Shores) as the coach of the Development Squad.  At very short notice, Chris was able to pick up the reigns from Graeme Trew (PGA, Murwillumbah) when Graeme became unavailable in the midst of the season.  The passion that Chris has displayed in taking this group under his wing is a compliment to himself.

All of the squad participants should be congratulated on their willingness to learn, their general attitude and the dedication they have shown in improving their skill levels.  Well done!!!
