Catalina Country Club Junior Clinic

Clear skies were the order of the day after the clinic had to be rescheduled due to very strong winds on Wednesday 13th July 2016. The juniors from Catalina Country Club and surrounding areas enjoyed a full day of learning through fun games and a playing experience at the end of their school holidays.

The juniors were put through their paces on the day with JNJG representative Luke Grinham taking them through a variety of games/drills with putting, chipping and full swings before the juniors enjoyed lunch and a short break.

After the refreshments it was time to head out onto the course and put what they had learnt into practice. The 5 holes gave the juniors a taste of what it is like to play out on the course and this will hopefully spur them along.

All of the juniors improved and took a number of things away from the day to work on with their new coach Mal, who has just taken over the position of Head Professional at Club Catalina.

It was great to see lots of parents helping out on the day allowing Luke to concentrate on teaching the juniors and correlating the score from each game to see who the winning pair was.

It is also great to see the junior program now going from strength to strength with lots of juniors returning to the club and playing again after some time away from the game.

The Catalina Junior Open will be held on 7th August and I am sure a lot of the juniors will do very well after they put into practice what Luke has taught them.  I am sure there will be a lot of juniors practicing and participating in the clubs clinics leading up to the event.

Luke Grinham, JNJG Far South Coast Territory Manager
