Inter-State Trophies for JNJG Members

It has been a good month for Jack Newton Junior Golf members plying their trade across the country.  With events being played in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, a few of our boys and girls will have earned many frequent flyer points.

Starting in South Australia at the 2018 Golf SA Junior Amateur Championships, we had 8 of our members make the trip to Kooyonga Golf Club and the Grange Golf Club. Doing the foundation proud was Thomas Heaton from The Australian and Wollongong GC by becoming the boys winner with rounds of 71, 74 and 74. The next best of the New South Welshman was Adam Thorp of Federal GC finishing T3rd.

Moving straight into the 2018 Golf SA Junior Masters, held at Royal Adelaide Golf Club, we had a strong representation with 11 NSW boys competing. Leading the charge was Adam Thorp, again with a T3rd, joined by Corey Lamb of Concord Golf Club.

Up north, at Alice Springs Golf Club, we had 4 players competing for the Paul Pearson Cup.  NSW managed to get 2 wins from the event with Joshuaa Robards of Belmont GC and Taryn Maher from Gunnedah winning their respective divisions. Joshuaa needed to win a 3-hole play off against Bart Carroll from Wagga Wagga GC after they both finished regular play at -1. Taryn beat fellow JNJG member Annika Boyd of Toukley by 3 shots.

Some great results for JNJG and NSW in the Australian Amateur Championships at Lake Karrinyup as well, with JNJG members Jye Pickin and Harrison Crowe both qualifying for the top 64 match play. The best of the NSW players was Darcy Boyd was tied 1st heading into the match play rounds.

JNJG member Jye Pickin managed an upset 1st round victory to finish up in the 2nd round of the match play. Unfortunately the last of the NSW players, Nathan Barbieri and Jordan Garner, were knocked out in the 3rd round.
