Some of Western Sydney region's most outstanding athletes were recognised at the 7th Annual Athlete Dinner and Awards Night held by the Western Sydney Academy of Sport at Castle Hill RSL on Saturday 26th November 2011.
The academy, which provides endorsed high performance training programs for Western Sydney's best pre-elite athletes across seven sports disciplines, recognised the Athlete of the Year for each of it programs.
The Golf Athlete of the Year was JNJG junior, Grant Booth. Grant's most recent achievements include:
- 2010 - finished top 10 in the NSW Junior Boys Championships
- 2010 Runner up at the Srixon International Sub Junior Classic
- Selected in the 2010/2011 NSW Junior State Squad
- Captain on the Junior Pennant Team - Ashlar Golf Club
- Runner up at the 2011 Harvey Norman Sub Junior Week of Golf
- Won the 2011 Sydney West School Sport Association Strokeplay Championships
- Competed in the 2011 Australian Boys Amateur Championships
- Selected in the 2011 Under 21 NSW Team
- Reduced handicap from 6 to 1 in the last 12 month
