Female Wins Eden Junior Open

Casey Cook, from Tura Beach Country Club, created history this week at the Eden Junior Open shooting a fantastic score of 2 over par 74 and winning the Championship.  Club Professional and organiser Loraine Lamberts said, “It was a very interesting situation as this has never happened before, a girl having a better score than a boy, but she had the best overall score of the day and that should be recognised as the winner.”

Twenty one juniors participated in the Junior Open and 12 played in the 9 hole cadet event.  It was a great day and all the kids had fun.  Lambert said, “It is great to see the support of all the clubs for making an effort to play in this event, we really do appreciate it and its great to see all the kids, they grow up so quickly.”

Both Lachlan Ingram (Moruya) and Blake Dowling (Bega) had 79 strokes winning the boys division, in third place from Pambula/Merimbula was Lincoln Warne and in fourth spot was Jack Roberts from Bega.  Winning the nett event on a count back was Lachlan Considine (Pambula/Merimbula) and the runner up was Dyllan Ralston (Catalina Country Club).

Nearest the pins were won by James Moore (Bega), Lachlan Considine(Pambula/Merimbula), Josh Maloney (Moruya) and Casey Cook (Tura)

The nine hole cadets all had a fun time and the card draw was won by Lily Ralston (Catalina CC) and Jayden Granger (Mollymook).
