Junior Competition at Beverley Park

The Beverley Park Golf Club is committed to the development of junior golfers and a 2019 initiative is proving popular amongst club members, sponsors and junior golfers.

Beverley Park Junior Committee Member Brendan Bull spoke to JNJG Territory Manager Tanya Smith about the initiative recently.

‘Our monthly Comps are open to all kids under 18 who are members of affiliated Golf Clubs and hold a current GA Handicap. We cater for all levels. Bookings are essential via the Pro Shop and numbers are limited. First in basis is in place. Parents are encouraged to walk the course with their children and also play if tee times are available,’ Bull said.

The future plans for this program include having special days throughout the year with invited guests playing golf with the kids.  In the first event of the year Sarah Kemp, LPGA Tour player and ex Beverley Park junior attended the day.  She is pictured with Abbey Bull, Club Pro Paul Davis and Charlotte and Sophia Perkins. Sarah played with the girls on the day which was a great bonus!!

Bull and the Junior Committee are passionate about making this initiative a priority and said, ‘there are also Parent vs Kids days on our radar.’

These competition days are cost effective with Green and Comp Fees capped at $15 and this includes food and bottled water.  Daily prizes are great, with variety. An eclectic competition is also on offer with 6 months minimum rounds required to be an eligible winner.

Bull explained, ‘the club have already secured sponsorship with Callaway Golf sponsoring the last event on 23rd February and Titleist and Taylor Made have contacted our Club Pro Paul Davis indicating interested in doing the same.’

‘Beverley Park Club Members are also pledging sponsorship dollars toward our monthly competitions,’ he said.

‘Beverley Park GC is proud to host junior boy and girl golfers and we are committed to allocating tee times on a monthly basis to encourage “kids playing golf with other kids” providing healthy competition and encouraging fun,’ Bull said.

‘We are confident we’re on a winner here and from the feedback thus far, parents are very happy that their children are given the opportunity to play in dedicated junior comps in the suburbs.’
