2016 Sponsors Golf Day and Awards Dinner

Jack Newton Junior Golf held it annual Sponsors Golf Day and Awards Presentation Dinner on Monday 5th December at Concord Golf Club.  It was another great day despite the golf being reduced due to severe thunderstorms causing havoc in the area.

The Concord course was again in pristine condition and juniors, sponsors and club representatives enjoyed the golf until making a quick beeline for the clubhouse in the late afternoon.  It was then time for everyone to get glammed up and ready for a wonderful dinner and recognition of the outstanding achievements of our talent juniors in 2016.

This year we celebrated JNJG's 30th Anniversary and were honoured to have the company of some special guest who had been involved in the foundation from its inception.  Special 30 year guests included JNJG's first CEO Greg Mills, the first PGA member for the JNJG Board Max Garske, JNJG's first junior member Joanne Mills, and a dedicated past member and now Head Professional at Concord Golf Club Cherie Alison.  Also joining us on the evening were our Hall of Fame members Bruce Nairn, John Higson and George Wing.

The theme for both the golf and dinner celebrated our 30 years as an organisation alongside The Masters Tournament.  Throughtout the day those who attended learned lots about the history of the Srixon International as well as The Masters at Augusta.  It was a magnificent evening but the highlight was recognising the juniors who have particularly excelled this year.

Celina Yuan ( The Australian) and Josh Armstrong (The Lakes) took home JNJG's highest honours when they were name 2016 Junior Girl and Boy of the Year.  Both had a long list of achievements and both were thoroughly deserving of the honour.  Belinda Ji (Concord) and Tom Heaton (The Australian) were awarded the 2016 Sub Junior Girl and Boy of the Year.  These two have also achieved so much this year and we congratulate them on their efforts.

It was only the junior golfers who were winners on the night. We also had recognised dedication to junior golf by awarding Mr Doug Crosby OAM the Service to Junior Golf Award for his commitment to providing our left handed juniors with amazing opportunities for so many years.  Shelly Beach Golf Club were awarded the Junior Club of the Year for their commitment and service to growing the game at the junior level.

We would also like to acknowledge our generous sponsors who make it possible for us to give the juniors these opportunities and also to the clubs, volunteers, parents friends and family who support our juniors.  Without all of you we wouldn't function.

The Board and staff at Jack Newton Junior Golf would like to thank you all for a wonderful 2016 and we look forward to seeing you all on the fairways in 2017.
