It's a Fourth for Team North!

(8.00pm - Thursday 9th June 2022)

On Sunday, May 29th, North once again etched their teams name onto the North v South Cup, extending their winning run to 4 in a row. Heading into the final round singles matches, the North team held the slenderest of leads at 6.5 points to Souths 5.5 points. as defending champions, the goal for Team North was to reach 12 points to retain the trophy, and 12.5 points to win it back outright.

The South Team, however, were looking to make a little history of their own, wanting to win the trophy for the first time in the competition’s history. After a great start from their early matches, it looked like this could finally be Team Souths year. Dominate victories from Ayden Kokcek (SWSAS) and Jake Davis (WRAS) meant that for the first time during the tournament, the South Team had taken the lead. As you looked down the live leader board, the South Team has leads everywhere. It was the back nine, however, where the North team started to fight back.

It began with Zane Lowe (NCAS) overturning a 4 down deficit to win his match 2up. Georgie Clune also came back from 2 down through 10 holes to win 1 up on the last. The tournament was now destined to come now to the final matches, and it was young gun Zoe Arcus (Metro North) and Sienna Clarke (IAS) who would ultimately decide the tournament. In a match that would see momentum swing dramatically towards Team North, Zoe was able to rise from the ashes of being 4 down through five holes to square the match up standing on the 10th tee. Arcus then set the course alit, with a birdie/eagle/birdie run on 12, 13 and 14 setting her on her way to a 3 and 2 victory, and therefore, the North v South Cup for Team North.

FINAL RESULT - Team North 12.5 defeats Team South 11.5
