Playoff Drama Wraps up Wagga Wagga Junior Masters

(4.00pm - Sunday 21st February 2021)

It is almost a Wagga Wagga Junior Masters tradition for the event to finish in a playoff, and this was the case in both the Boys and Girls Division in 2021.

Finishing tied on +2 par was the trio of Rachel Lee (North Ryde), Ann Jang (Toukley) and Chaewon Lee (Glenmore GC). It took 5 play off holes to declare a winner. Ann Jang and Rachel Lee both stood on the par 5 5th green with eagle chances, but, an uncharacteristic 3 putt for Lee gave Jang a birdie putt for victory.

After both being unable to save par on the 18th hole, Ethan Harvey (The Lakes GC) and Harry Atkinson (Kurri GC) were also both headed to a play off finish. This playoff, however, was wrapped up quickly, with Harvey making a birdie on the first to win the tournament.  After missing the same putt for birdie on his opening hole, Ethan remarked after the playoff “I knew coming up against Harry, that I would need to take my chances, so I knew I had to make this putt”.
