Harvey Cruises as Ella Aces Kew Once Again

(2:00pm - Sunday 16th May 2021)

Ethan Harvey (The Lakes) and Ella Scaysbrook (Newcastle) have won the 2021 North Coast Junior Masters in vastly different circumstances at Kew Country Club.

Harvey saved his best performance in a JNJG tournament for his last, cruising to victory with a bogey free 68 and four under par total on a Sunny Sunday afternoon on the Lower North Coast. His 13 shot victory sent JNJG Tournament Staff searching for the record books, with the dominant performance the biggest winning margin in JNJG Junior Masters History.

Former local junior Scaysbrook had to come from behind to defend her North Coast Junior Masters title, taking the lead for good with the help of a HOLE-IN-ONE on the Par 3 12th. Her rounds of 76 and 74 saw her edge clear to defeat Rachel Lee (Avondale GC) and overnight leader Vanna Limeburner (Kew GC).

Harvey Looks to Finish Junior Career in Style

(5:00pm - Saturday 15th May 2021)

Ethan Harvey (The Lakes) has just one round left in his JNJG career and will head into that final round with a maiden JNJG Master Title in sight after a blistering back nine at Kew Country Club. Playing in his final junior tournament before turning 18 later this month, the recent Wollongong GC Club Champ reeled off six back nine birdies to surge to the lead on a day where scoring was difficult in the cool conditions.

Harvey started slowly with three bogies in the opening six holes before picking up a birdie on the 8th to make the turn at two over par. Three birdies in five holes to start the back nine got the 17 year old to red figures before disaster struck with a double-bogey on the 15th. It didn't phase the oldest player in the field, who bounced back with three straight birdies on the final three holes to sign for a two under par 68.

Harvey leads by six shots, with Harry Atkinson (Kurri Kurri) and Nihal Gaunder (Cumberland) sharing second place at four over par, with Oliver Davis (The Australian) also making the final group after an opening round 75.

Local girl Vanna Limeburner (Kew) will have the home crown on her side as she takes a one shot lead into the final round in the Girls Division. Limeburner was solid all day on her home track, dropping just three shots to go alongside two birdies as she recorded a one over par 72 in the difficult conditions.

Rachel Lee (Avondale) sits in outright second at two over par, a double bogey on the 10th costing her the opening round lead. Ann Jang (Toukley) is two shots further back at four over par, one shot clear of defending champion Ella Scaysbrook (Newcastle)

Scaysbrook out to Defend North Coast Junior Masters Crown

(10:00am - Friday 14th May 2021)

After a move to Newcastle she's no longer consider a local, but hometown favourite Ella Scaysbrook will return to her former stomping ground this week in search of back to back North Coast Junior Masters titles.

The impressive 15 year old claimed her maiden JNJG Masters Title with a final hole birdie to secure victory at Kew Country Club back in December, much to the delight of the local fans. Scaysbrook has since made the move to Newcastle and her game has gone to another level, picking up another victory at the Peter O'Malley Junior Masters in March with a dominant performance as well as a recent top 10 at the Australian Girls Championship in Canberra.

The JNJG Development Squad player will have a host of challenges this weekend however, with the in-form Rachel Lee (Avondale), Grace Lee (Glenmore) and Michelle Moon (NSW) all in with a chance to win. Throw in The Australian pair Charlotte Perkins and Abbey Bull, Toukley young-guns Ann Jang and Michelle Bang and local Kew Country Club stars Qudesha Golledge and Vanna Limeburner, the Girls Division is an open affair.

Boys Defending Champion Fletcher Murray has since aged out of the junior ranks and won't be back to defend his title, leaving the door ajar for a number of players in search of their first JNJG Masters Title. No player will be motivated more than Ethan Harvey (The Lakes), with the long-time JNJG regular playing his final junior tournament before turning 18 later this month. Harvey has been knocking on the door for a number of years and victory in his final event would be a fitting way to end his junior career.

Play beings on Saturday at 11:45am, with all players required to register by 11:30am for a tournament briefing prior to the shot-gun start taking place.
