2020 – 2021 JNJG Tour Dates Revealed

(1:00pm - Wednesday 7th October 2020)

After a disastrous 2020 calendar year which saw JNJG Tournaments cancelled or postponed due to extreme heat, flash flooding, bushfire smoke and then finally the Covid-19 Pandemic, The 2020 - 2021 JNJG Tour Calendar has been set with tournaments once again taking place all over New South Wales. The calendar will give our junior golfers of all abilities right across the state a chance to compete at JNJG Tour Level.

The Brett Ogle Junior Masters, traditionally the final Junior Masters Event of the year, becomes the first event of the new 2020 - 2021 wrap around season. The tournament will once again be played at Brett’s home course, Goulburn GC, with the JNJG community supporting the club that was closed recently due to severe floods.

Three more rescheduled events will take place throughout December, giving juniors the opportunity to get back on the course before Christmas after an interrupted season.

The North Coast Junior Masters, originally scheduled for May, will be played in December and also double as the Champions Trophy tournament for 2020. Kew Country Club will once again host the tournament for the sixth straight year.

The other rescheduled event will end up being the final major of the year, with the NSW Junior Championships and JNJG State Age Championships heading to the Southern Highlands in December. Players aged 13 - 17 will contest the NSW Junior Championships at Mt Broughton Golf and Country Club, whilst those ages 12 Years and Under will play in the JNJG State Age Championships just down the road at Moss Vale Golf Club.

The 2021 calendar year begins with a revamped Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf, set to be played over four courses in four days throughout the first week of January. Starting at Federal GC and moving to some of the best courses throughout Canberra, The A.C.T Week of Golf has once again maintained Golf Australia Junior Order of Merit Status as well as World Amateur Golf Ranking status.

The new format will enable the tournament to grow from a capacity field of 100 - 120 players (in previous years) to as many as 250 players in 2021, with juniors previously balloted out now given the opportunity to play after so many events were lost throughout 2020.

The Harvey Norman Sydney Week of Golf will once again be played over five courses in five days, moving back a couple of weeks to the middle of January. The date change will give many players the opportunity to play in both the A.C.T and Sydney Week of Golf, with the 90-Hole Tournament set to finish at its traditional home, Muirfield GC.

The NSW Junior Championships heads way up North, with Byron Bay and Ocean Shores set to host the tournament over the next two years. The two Northern Rivers clubs were set to host the tournament in 2020, however it was cancelled back in July due to the Coronavirus. It's been more than 15 years since the Northern Rivers have hosted a Major JNJG title, with two of the best and most challenging courses in the district perfect venues for the Junior Championships.

The 12 Years and Under JNJG State Age Championships will be back on the calendar in the July School Holidays after being moved in 2020 due to the Coronavirus. The tournament will have a new home, with players getting the opportunity to play Lynwood and Stonecutters Ridge, two of Sydney’s finest Western Sydney courses.

The Biggest Junior Tournament in the country will be held in the September / October School Holidays, with Cypress Lakes & Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley once again hosting the Jack Newton International Junior Classic. Almost 400 players from right around the world (hopefully – pending travel restrictions) will head to the Hunter Valley to compete in both Junior and Sub Junior Divisions.

The International will grow even more in 2021, with Singleton GC joining as a host venue, holding a 9-Hole non handicapped event for our youngest juniors which will also act as the Tour Finals of the JNJG Out of Iso Golf Days which were very successful in 2020.

The September / October holidays will also host the Fayde Junior Matchplay, with the biggest individual Matchplay event on the calendar returning just in time to prepare juniors for the Encourage Shield and Junior Pennant seasons.

There are no major changes to the JNJG Junior Masters Series, aside from a new event added in the Blue Mountains, with ten events in ten different districts across NSW hosting the two-day 36 Hole Events. The Junior Masters Series will take it's show on the road to the Riverina, Central West, Illawarra, Lower North Coast, Sydney Metropolitan Area, Northern Rivers, Central Coast, Far South Coast, Blue Mountains and A.C.T Monaro, giving juniors from all corners from NSW a chance to play in a "home" Junior Masters.

The final major of the year will once again be the Champions Trophy, with players trying to win their way to the Champions Trophy at all JNJG Tour Events throughout the year.

Team Club events are also held throughout the year, with the Eric Apperly Shield held on Sunday's throughout July & August and the Encourage Shield / Junior Pennant Competitions held on Sunday's throughout October & November.
