Singh on Song at Wagga Wagga

(6:00pm - 16th February 2019)

Ripudaman Singh (Castle Hill GC) has lit it up over his final holes to shoot a -5 par 67 and post a 4-shot lead in the first round of the Wagga Wagga Junior Masters. It was a solid round which only featured one bogey on Ripudaman’s 4th hole. A bogey free 4 under back nine was enough to open a comfortable over night lead over Ali Rachid (Kogorah GC) and Joshuaa Robards (Newcastle GC), who are tied at -1 par. Ali looked to be surging up the leader board himself, with 3 birdies on his back nine, but a bogey on his final hole slipped him back into a tie. Josh Robbards barely slipped up himself, with 14 pars highlighted by an eagle on the 3rd hole.

Enzo Moon (Strathfield GC) holds a 3 shot lead in the Under 11s heading into round 2. Enzo shot a solid 6 over par, made even more impressive considering he had 2 double bogeys during his round. Ryan Fletcher (Lynwood CC) leads the 12-13 years by 4 shots after his 2 over pay 74.

It is a close contest in the Girls Division, with Taylah Ellems (The Lakes GC) holding a slim 1 shot lead after the first round. At 2 over par, Taylah will be hoping to hold off a chasing pack of 5, who are all with 3 shots of her lead. Closest to her is Angelina Gong (Concord GC) after her opening round of 76.

JuEun Jang (Toukley GC) has picked up 2019 where she left off 2018 and holds a 5 shot lead over Nara Shin (Ryde Parramatta GC) with a 3 over 76. Ella Murray (Dubbo GC) has a 7 shot leading heading into Sunday in the girls 12-13 years, shooting 4 over 77. The 14-15 years is lead by Lili Kremmer, after her opening round of 78, 5 over par.

Round 2 will begin on Sunday morning with a 7.30am shotgun.

2019 Junior Masters Series Kicks off at Wagga Wagga Country Club

13th February 2019

The 2019 Junior Masters series will be off to fast start this weekend, with a full field of 128 players taking part in the Wagga Wagga Junior Masters. Long time sponsors Kilbrogan Trading will be joined by Jupiter Motors in supporting the first of 10 events on the Junior Masters calendar. Srixon Sports Australia have also once again supplying prizes for the event.

Local hero Bart Carroll will look to become the first back to back winner in the 9 year history of the event in the boys division. Bart shot rounds of 72 and 70 to secure a 1 shot victory in the 2018 event, and will be looking to start his 2019 off on the same note. But he will not have it all his way with a competitive field looking to snatch his title, including 2019 Harvey Norman Sydney Week of Golf Champion Ali Rachid.

JNJG State representatives Amber Thornton and 2019 Harvey Norman ACT Week of Golf Champion Yerin Kim will feature in the 32 strong Girls Division. After teaming up to help JNJG bring home the 2019 State of Origin series, where the girls featured in the Foursomes and Four-Ball matches together and maintained unbeaten records, the girls will now face off for the first Masters event of 2019.

Wagga Wagga Country Club will be hosting events in the lead up to the weekend, including a 9 hole “Warm Up” on Friday afternoon, the JNJG Shoot-Out in the evening, followed by a BBQ and Movies by the Moonlight. For more information on these events please see the flyers below.

Jack Newton will be in attendance all weekend as well.  It is his first time at the Wagga Wagga Junior Masters and he is looking forward to attending all of the club organised events and watching the juniors compete.

The first round will begin on Saturday morning at 11.15am, followed by a shotgun start on Sunday at 7.30am.
