Jang Jags First Victory

(2.00pm - Sunday 25th August 2019)

12 year old Ann Jang (Toukley) has collected her first JNJG Junior Masters title with victory in the South Coast Junior Masters at Catalina Country Club. In a field that included 17 year old NSW Junior State Team members Yerin Kim (Strathfield) and Kara Williams (Avondale), Jang led the whole way. A final round 76 (+4) was enough to secure her a 5 shot victory over Annika Boyd (Pymble), who was still good enough to win the Girls 16 Years and Over division.

It was a closer affair in the boys division, with extra holes required to determine our champion. Danny Pedzikiewicz (Kooindah Waters) had a consistent weekend, with a final round 74 to finish +5 for the tournament. But it was Ripudaman Singh, who needed to shoot a -3 69 to force the playoff, who walked away the victor, paring the first play off hole.

In the 11 years and under divisions, Adam Ding (Bexley) and Rachel Lee (North Ryde) were too good for the rest of the field, both finishing 11 shots clear of their nearest competitors.

Kai Komulainen (Long Reef) bounced back from a disappointing round 1 to card a -1 71 in the final round, and secure a one shot victory over Maximillain Fischer (Bonnie Doon) in the Boys 12-13 Years Division.

The Boys 14-15 Years was wrapped up by Bradley Wills (Concord) finishing at +9 for the tournament. 2018 South Coast Junior Masters Champion Charlotte Perkins (The Australian) was too good for the Girls 14-15 years, finishing 7 shots in front of a fast finishing Jasmin Vesper (Singleton).

Defending Champs Return to Catalina

(2:00pm – Wednesday 21st August 2019)

A near capacity field will head to Catalina Country Club this weekend for the 9th running of the South Coast Junior Masters. The Batemans Bay Event will be the eighth event on the Junior Masters calendar for the year, with only the Brett Ogle Junior Masters (Goulburn – November) still to follow.

Defending Champions Harry Cleare (Nelson Bay) and Charlotte Perkins (The Australian) will return to the venue they tasted success at in 2018, with Cleare looking to become the first boy in South Coast JM History to claim back to back titles. Perkins will join an elite group with Hannah Park (2015 / 2016) and local girl Hayley McNeill (2012 / 2013) the only two players to successfully defend their crown in years gone by.

Whilst Winter-Sport Grand Finals will see many JNJG regulars playing Rugby League, Australian Rules, Football and Netball this weekend, more than 110 golfers from right across NSW will take part in the tournament. The School Sport Australia 18 Years and Under Golf Championships are also taking place this week, with 12 players from both the A.C.T and NSW flying across to Perth for the week long tournament in Mandurah.

Play begins at 10:20am on Saturday with live scoring to take place on both days at Catalina Country Club.
