Son and Rachid Take Lead into the Final Round

(5:30pm - Thursday 10th January 2019)

Yeleen Son (Ryde Parramatta) and Ali Rachid (Kogarah) will take leads of different sizes into the final round of the 2019 Harvey Norman Week of Golf after the fourth round was completed at Cumberland Golf Club in cool overcast conditions.

Overnight leader Son saw her lead cut to one by Olivia Kerr (Pennant Hills), after the 16 year old moved into second place after a four over par 77 on Thursday. Kerr made her move on the front nine, turning at level par to play her way into contention with one round to play. They'll be joined in the final group by Queensland visitor Grace Williams, who sits a further five shots back but still within reaching distance with one round to play.

There was drama late on Wednesday night, with runaway leader Blake Phillips disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard during the third round. Phillips fired a 71 at Avondale but after making a mistake with his scorecard, handed in a card that added up to 70. The penalty for this, regardless of position on the leaderboard, is disqualification. It's also a perfect example of why we make sure players check their scorecards over and over and over again before handing it in because it's an easy mistake to make!!!

To his credit and showing just how well he is playing this week, Phillips backed up on Thursday competing only for a daily prize, to record a four under par 68, the best round of the day for the third time in four days.

With Phillips not eligble for the overall prize, Ali Rachid has one hand on the trophy and takes a 10 shot lead into the final round. Harrison Glenday moved into second place with a one under par 71, with Blade Gadd dropping back to third.

Phillips Heats Up at Harvey Norman

(5:00pm - Tuesday 8th January 2019)

Blake Phillips (Concord) has extended his lead at the 2019 Harvey Norman Week of Golf in hot and sticky conditions at Pennant Hills Golf Club. The overnight leader was even more impressive on Tuesday, rolling in five birdies and an eagle to put his stamp on the tournament with a second round 66. With 54 Holes of the 90 Hole marathon remaining, Phillips leads Jeff Pullen (Moore Park) by nine shots. Ali Rachid (Kogarah) and Blade Gadd (Concord) moved up the leaderboard into third and fourth position after also breaking par on the difficult Pennant Hills layout.

Yeleen Son (Ryde Parramatta) has taken the lead in the Girls Division after a second consecutive round of 77. Son made four birdies in the difficult conditions, the difference between her and the chasing pack so far. Queensland visitor Grace Williams has moved into second position after a 78, on a day when many of the players fell backwards in the extreme heat.

Phillips Shines on Dark Summer Day

(1:30pm - Monday 7th January)

Concord junior Blake Phillips has fired out of the blocks at the 2019 Harvey Norman Sydney Week of Golf in miserable conditions at North Ryde Golf Club.

Despite constant drizzle which hung around for most of the day, Phillips was super impressive to open up a three shot lead on the rest of the field. Starting on the back nine, birdies on the 12th and 15th quickly got the 16 year old under par, making the turn at minus one after a bogey on the 18th. The front nine was almost as impressive, with one birdie and one bogey in the difficult conditions enough to clear out in the lead. Jeff Pullen (St Michael's) and Harrison Glenday (The Lakes) share second place after opening with two-over par 71's on the first day.

Yeleen Son (Ryde Parramatta) and Olivia Kerr (Pennant Hills) share the lead in the girls division, finishing the opening day with rounds of 77.

There were also some outstanding Results in the handicap division, with Penrith youngster Brent Gadd following in his older brother's footsteps with an incredible Nett Score of 60, whilst Jack Toyne (Morisset) also impressed with a Nett 61.
