Garner and Kil Lead as Defending Champs Loom

(Day 2 - Thursday 1st December, 2016)

Jordie Garner (Castle Hill) will take a one shot lead into the final round of the 2016 Bonville Champions Trophy after a day which saw the leaderboard turned upside down over the closing holes. Bella Kil (Avondale) remained on top of the leaderboard in the girls division, however she was matched by defending champion Hannah Park (NSW GC) whose round of 68 took her into a share of the lead.

Garner was solid late in the third round, with many of the leading players dropping shots over the closing holes. The Central Coast product finished his third round with a one under par 70, a two putt birdie on the 18th green giving him the solo lead as he searches for his maiden JNJG Major Crown. He leads defending champion Jason Hong (Concord) by one, who looked set to cruise to back to back titles until his hot putter turned cold over the closing stretch. The 18 year old was -7 for the tournament through 11 holes in the final round, before bogies on 12, 13, 15, 16, and a double bogey on 17 brought him back to the chasing pack. 15 Year Old Harrison Crowe (St Michaels) is having the best tournament of his JNJG career, and will play in the final group despite dropping three shots in his final three holes.....the first dropped shots of his third round. Harry Doig (NSW GC) and Corey Jones (Pymble) share 4th position at two over par, only five shots off the lead, whilst Tom Heaton (The Australian) and Jye Pickin (Avondale) are a shot further back meaning there are a total of SEVEN players within six shots heading into the final round. 15 Boys made the 54 hole cut, with the number this year being the lowest it's ever been at +12.

The Girls Division has become a race in three, with defending champion Hannah Park (NSW GC) joined by Avondale pair Bella Kil and Grace Kim in the final group on Friday. Park fired a 68 in the third round to storm back into contention during a round where many of the leading pack dropped shots to fall down the leaderboard. Park made five birdies in her third round, joining Kil on top after the recently turned Aussie Resident recovered from a mid-round slip up to finish with an even par 71. After leading through two rounds, Kim fell flat in the third round with some soft bogies, but remains right in the hunt and is only three back with 18 holes to play. The 21 girls were cut at the Top 11 players, with 12 Year Old Sophie Yip becoming the youngest ever player to make the cut at Bonville, finishing at +19 for the 54 holes.

Bunched Leaderboard at Bonville

(Day 1 - Wednesday 30th November, 2016)

After a long day on course at the 2016 Bonville Champions Trophy that saw the players complete 27 Holes, defending champion Jason Hong (Concord) and 16 Year Old Grace Kim (Avondale) have taken the lead!!

27 Holes were played on the opening day, and 18 Year Old Hong sits on top of the Boys Division at three under par. The Concord member had two chip-in eagles in the opening 18 holes to fire a one under par 70, before starting the second round with three birdies in his first four holes to shoot to the lead. Jordie Garner (Castle Hill) sits in second after opening with a 68, before a double bogey on the 7th, his 26th hole of the day, saw him finish the days play at minus two. Harrison Crowe (St Michael's) and Brad Doherty (Oatlands) share third a shot further back, Doherty coming unstuck on his final hole after a horrendous lie in the greenside bunker. Five players share 15th spot in the Boys Division, meaning the cut-line is currently sitting at +9.

In the Girls Division, Grace Kim, who has had a very consistent 2016 JNJG Tour Season without picking up that major victory, has shot to the lead and is the only girl under par after the opening days play. Kim finished with six birdies in the opening 27 holes, and leads fellow Avondale member Bella Kil by two strokes. Kil finished the second day strongly, making birdies on the 7th and 8th, her final two holes of the day. Belinda Ji (Concord) is two shots further back in outright third, whilst defending champion Hannah Park (NSW GC) shares fourth position with Steph Kyriacou (St Michael's) who continues to impress this year.
