Kareela Hosts David Hirsch Memorial
Thursday 10th July was a beautiful but cool winters morning and junior golfers from all over teed off in the 2014 David Hirsch Memorial Day at Kareela Golf Club. Over 30 juniors played from 12 different clubs including juniors from the Illawarra as well as the Newcastle area and of course Sydney.
This year the juniors teed off in a shot gun format at 9am so everyone was able to come in at the same time and attend the presentation. They all seemed to enjoy themselves and the course was in great condition and proved to be a real test for the juniors. Brodie Pedersen didn’t seem to think the par 3 first hole (which he actually didnt play until later in his round due to the shot gun start) was too hard as he recorded his first ever hole in one!!
This year Jack Newton Junior Golf donated prize vouchers for a lucky draw where everyone had the chance to win. There were four vouchers given out in total, two of which were given to a boy and girl from the local Sutherland Shire golf clubs and the other two were for anyone that participated in the day. The prize vouchers are for tournament expenses for the junior to play at the 2014 South Coast Junior Masters and all that were lucky enough to win the voucher are very excited about competing in the event!
The David Hirsch Memorial trophy was awarded to Harrison Glenday from Cabramatta Golf Club with 37 points which was a great score on the day!
