Day 4

Junior Division

The final round of the Harvey Norman Junior Week of golf took place at Pennant Hills Golf. The players were presented with much cooler weather which I'm sure they were pleased about and some great golf was played.

Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon GC) took out the boys championship after displaying some great golf this week with 70, 68, 68, 69 for a total of 275 and 11 under par. 16 year old, Cameron Davis (Roseville GC) may not have taken out the championship but he played some impressive golf today, shooting 65 (-6) and finished the tournament with 3 under and managed to win the boys 16 years scratch . Mitchell Norbis (Windsor GC) won the boys 15 years scratch with 8 over for the tournament.

Esther Yoon (Bankstown GC) was able to hold onto her overnight lead and take out the girls championship with 16 over and not far behind were Michaela Scheetz (NSW GC) and Tahnia Ravnjak (The Australian GC)  who finished with 18 over.

At the conclusion of the week of golf, the JNJG team announced who were to compete in the 2012 State of Origin against the Greg Norman Golf Foundation.

The 6 players representing JNJG from the Junior division are:

15 Years - Lizzy Elmassian + Grant Booth

16 Years - Cathleen Santoso + Dylan Perry

17 Years - Michaela Scheetz + Ricky Kato

Sub - Junior Division

The final round started with both the boys and girls overall leaders separated by only 1 shot, and it wasn’t until late on the back 9 that a winner was decided.

Kevin Yuan (Bankstown) fired a fantastic final round of -2 (70) to break away from 54 hole leader Tony Jung (Strathfield), and ended up winning by 5 shots.

Shelly Shin (Concord) was also able to slowly wear down overnight leader Celina Yuan (Bankstown) and managed to open up a 4 shot lead, but Celina kept fighting, and pushed Shelley all the way to the wire. Shelley hung on in the end, to win by 2 shots. The girls Nett winner was Belinda Ji (Rosnay – HCP 30) with an incredible -22.

In the boys 12 and under, Josh Armstrong (Golf Creek) played consistent golf over 4 days to run away with the victory. Justin Kim (Muirfield) and Adam Nelson (Castle Hill) finished in 2ndand 3rd.
Jacob Schouw (Bayview – HCP 16) finished as the Nett Champion.

There was some consolation for Tony Jung, after narrowly missing out on the overall title, with a commanding win in the boys 13 years. The minor places were closely fought out, with Jason Hong and Isaac Noh completing the Strathfield trifecta in the boys 13 years. The Nett champion in the 13 years was Brian Au (Woolooware – HCP 28) finishing on -11 for the week.

Behind Kevin in the 14 years division was a tie, with Blake Windred (Charlestown) and Mitch Gannon (Bonnie Doon) finishing on 301. Bayview Golf Club were successful in the Nett event, with Patrick Wood finishing 1ston -7 and Jarrad Fisher 3rd. Splitting them was Jack White (Concord) on -5.

At the conclusion of the week of golf, the JNJG team announced who were to compete in the 2012 State of Origin against the Greg Norman Golf Foundation.

The 6 players representing JNJG from the Sub Junior are:

12 Years - Josh Armstrong + Doey Choi
13 Years – Tony Jung + Celina Yuan
14 Years – Kevin Yuan + Jessica Lasky

Day 3

Round 3 at Killara Golf Club saw Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon GC) take a commanding lead of 11 shots over Zac Stolz (Pymble GC). Ricky sits at an impressive 9 whilst Zac is 2 over par.

In the girls field, Esther Yoon (Bankstown GC) has taken the lead with 4 over today and 9 over for the tournament so far. Tahnia Ravnjak (The Australian GC) is 4 shots behind on 13 over and Tess MacDonald (Newcastle GC) is 14 over.

The last day of competition for the junior division at Pennant Hills Golf Club is sure to be great with some impressive golf to played.

Round 3 started at Ryde Parramatta with Tony Jung and Celina Yuan holding commanding 7 and 8 shot leads respectively, but through some great golf, on a tough and demanding layout, those leads have now evaporated.

In the Girls event Shelly Shin (Concord) fired the round of the day, and was the only player in the entire field to break par, shooting a -3 70 to head into tomorrow’s final round only 1 shot behind overnight leader Celina Yuan (Bankstown).

Kevin Yuan (Bankstown) backed up his amazing 65 yesterday with an Even Par 71, and now trails overnight leader Tony Jung (Strathfield) by just the 1 shot. Tony sits at -2 for the tournament, with Kevin at -1.

Also of note is 12 year old Josh Armstrong (Gold Creek), who fired his 3rd successive 75, to open up a 16 shot lead in the 12 and under division, as well as sitting in a Tie for 5th Overall at +13.

The final round is at Penrith, with the leading group to tee off at 8:44am.

Day 2

Day 2 at the Harvey Norman Week of Golf saw soaring temperatures but some great golf as well.

Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon GC) leads the boys junior championship with 5 under, whilst Zac Stolz (Pymble GC) has made his way up the ladder to sit in 2nd place and 3 shots behind Ricky with 2 under after Day 2 of competition. In the girls championship, Lizzie Elmassian (The Australian GC) had even par today to finish 3 over for the tournament so far and leads the field for the girls. Not far behind however, is Esther Yoon (Bankstown GC) who finished the day on 5 over.

In the sub junior division, Tony Jung (Strathfield GC) had another great day, shooting 4 under to take his total to 8 under after 2 days of competition. Kevin Yuan (Bankstown GC) also had an impressive day, producing 6 under to take his total to 1 under. Celina Yuan (Bankstown GC) leads the girls sub junior division after having 6 under par today and takes her lead to 8 shots over Shelly Shin (Concord GC).
