Country Junior Golf Professional, Eddie Emerson teamed up with PGA Central Coast member, John Clifford and JNJG Western Country Development Officer, Sharon Nott and undertook a number of coaching clinics from the 10th -13th April in country NSW at clubs with no resident Golf Professional. Funding for the trip was provided by JNJG, CJG and a grant from Golf NSW to Western District Ladies Golf Association

A  great turn up of 38 Juniors attended the one day clinic at Wellington with juniors ranging in age 7yrs-16yrs. Local member Ron Cowan assisted with the coaching on the day and lady members Sue Martin and Maria Cornish did all the organising from the club end. Wellington has been holding family ambrose events with many of the juniors bringing their parents along to the follow up days. With the extra coaching provided on the day juniors were certainly keen to put their new and improved skills to the test on the golf course.

Warren Lady Member, Deb Kentwell, organised the day at Warren in which we had 22 juniors attend. It was great that 3 of the FWAS Golf Squad-James Gaffney(Bourke), Tomas Job and Justin Roberts(Warren) came along to the day  to not only get coaching but to assist other local juniors and some of the older juniors, who have been associated with the Warren Junior Program in the past-Shaun Green and Johno, made ‘guest appearances’ . Ages ranged from 6yrs-17yrs and Warren is looking at holding some Family Days in the future to encourage the juniors with their golf

Forbes, under the team led by Junior Coordinator, Anthony Gordon held a two day clinic on the Thursday and Friday with a follow up ‘Pump Golf Shootout’ with Family on the Sunday. 29 juniors attended and they all said they were coming on the Sunday which was very positive. Forbes has regular weekly junior events and their junior committee is very active in ensuring that all juniors are given every opportunity to learn and develop their golfing aspirations. Former Forbes Junior, James Grieson, who is now in Sydney doing an elite Golfing Program, made himself available to coach the ‘newer’ juniors on the Thursday. Peter and Jill Cripps along with Annie Mooy  went out of their way looking after the coaching staff and Greenkeeper Brett had the course looking in very good condition considering the floods they had last month.

A great week was had by all and hopefully we will be seeing plenty of junior faces at local tournaments coming up in the area-Kandos(6th May), Lachlan Valley Classic-Forbes(27th May) and the Western Junior Classic-Dubbo(10-11thJune) as well as Mens and Ladies Open events-when they are on a weekend!!. Keep up the practice
